Thanks for the tip Judy. The Wrap-N-Mat is pretty cool. I'm thinking about getting one for myself.

If plastic containers are too bulky or heavy: Reusable Bags sells a wonderful cloth "Wrap-N-Mat" "Food safe, PEVA liner that wipes clean" closes with velcro http://www.reusablebags.com/store/wrapnmat-p-2.html
I wrap sandwiches as well as veggies in the mats and at the end of the day, wipe them clean.

I agree! All of these disposable containers (gladware, Ziploc, etc.) along with plastic bags drive me nuts! I buy them, but treat them as reusable. The lid it usually the first thing to break but I find uses for the containers. I have a variety of animals (not all with fur) and use these as water bowls, bathing containers, feeder insect homes. I go crazy if I see someone take ziploc bag then toss it. Call me frugal, but I wash out this type of bag and reuse. It really isn't the $$ as much as it is the landfill issue.
