So, I had a pretty fun time on Saturday at Merriweather Post Pavillion. No kids with me this time as they spent the night at a friends house, and would have had to wake up at 5:30 anyway. Somehow I know that would have been a struggle.
The Ulman Cancer Fund held a 10K race, along with a kids fun run and two bike races to benefit young people fighting cancer.
Lance Armstrong was there, and actually ran the race as well. He came in third. So you know those two people who finished ahead of him will be bragging for weeks to come. :->
I got a good picture of him by the MOM’s banner (I can’t help plugging, I’m sorry), and I will be posting it on this site in a couple of days.
They held a health fair to go along with the theme, and MOM’s donated 200 bagels and cream cheese for the runners. Gotta have those carbs.
My mother passed away when I was 13 from cancer, so it meant something to me, along with the store aspect of things.
One of the best parts about my job is knowing that the company I work for is really helping people get healthy.
The people who come into MOM’s have all made the decision to at least start eating healthy. Many of them do it on their own, but many of them do in once they have been diagnosed with some sort of ailment. It’s a shame that we all wait until we get news like that to start making changes, but even I am not immune. Some times a kick in the pants is what you need.
The upside is that once people have made the choice, we get to help them understand how to act upon it.
When your body is ill, it needs natural products. Any doctor in the world will tell you pesticides and growth hormones in, and on your food, will make you worse.
Since the beginning of time until 130 years ago, the human race did just fine without the creation of these things. Over this time span, we have been duped into thinking we need them. The reality is that they help unscrupulous businesses grow food larger and faster. There is no benefit to our body whatsoever.
So, I digressed a bit, as I will often do. My point though, was that MOM’s loves taking part in events like this because you have a group of people there who are already taking care of themselves. The catch is, they might not know about us and it is my job to tell them what they are missing.
I enjoyed meeting everyone out there, and kudos to The Ulman Cancer Fund for all the great work they do and for putting on a great event.
till next year…

I would love to see the picture of Lance with the MOMs sign when you get a chance to post it…

Sadly, it looks like I cannot send pictures from my phone to a computer. I am working on trying to save it to my SIM card, and then putting it in another phone to try it that way. Until then, just imagine this picture…
The sun comes over the mountains, brilliantly shining like love overcoming all boundaries. Right as the first rays of light come forth, they strike the MOM’s banner glistening in the morning dew. Right next to it is Lance Armstrong, hanging out with his good buddy Matt McConaughey flexing their muscles, and holding up signs that say “Go Organic at MOM’s, our favorite store”.
That’s pretty much the way it was, and I will post the picture as soon as I figure out how to.
